How it works
How microneedling with Purasomes works
First, SkinPen microneedling creates thousands of tiny channels in the skin, which prompts it to make fresh collagen. Right after, we apply Purasomes across the treated area while your skin is most receptive.
Purasomes are made by AVARI, which purifies exosomes from bovine colostrum, the first milk a cow produces. They're animal derived, not human derived.

Free consultation
We look at your skin, review your health history, medications and goals, and plan your treatments and what they'll cost.
Numbing
We cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream.
SkinPen treatment
We microneedle each area with SkinPen, adjusting the depth as we go.
Purasomes
We apply Purasomes straight away, while your skin is most receptive.
Results
Many people see brighter looking skin within a week or two, with texture improving over the series.
Before and aftercare
Before and after your treatment
Before
- Tell us if you have a milk protein allergy. Purasomes come from bovine colostrum.
- Tell us if you have a fish allergy, since Nutri Skin Complex contains salmon derived PDRN.
- Stop retinol, Retin-A and exfoliating acids like glycolic acid about five days before.
- Avoid sunburn, tanning and self tanner on the area for two weeks before.
- If you get cold sores, tell us ahead of time. Your doctor may suggest medication to take before treatment.
- Reschedule if you have active breakouts, a rash, a cold sore or an infection in the area.
- Tell us if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last six months, or tend to form keloid scars.
- Come with clean skin and no makeup if you can.
Aftercare
- Pink to red skin, like a mild sunburn, is normal for one to three days. Some people also have light swelling or dryness.
- Skip makeup for 24 hours, and use only the gentle cleanser and moisturizer we recommend for the first few days.
- Avoid workouts, heavy sweating, saunas, hot tubs and swimming for 48 hours.
- Wait about five days before going back to retinol, acids, scrubs or other active products.
- Wear sunscreen every day and stay out of the sun. Your skin is extra sensitive while it renews.
- Let any flaking come off on its own. Don't pick or scrub.
We usually recommend 3 to 4 treatments about four weeks apart, then maintenance once or twice a year.

Your consultation is with Nurse Melissa Gagnon, RPN, founder of Canadian Beauty Boutique, who brings more than 15 years of experience in medical aesthetics, or with Jenna, our medical aesthetician, at our Brooklin clinic.
SkinPen treatments are done by Melissa at all three clinics and by Jenna in Brooklin. Every treatment follows the same steps, with a new sterile needle cartridge for every client. Meet our team.
